I have started an online candle memorial for our Sister, Mary Cecilia, the wife of our poster Asteriktos who fell asleep in the Lord suddenly today. To light a candle, click on the link below and then click on an unlit candle and follow the instructions. The group code for the memorial is "OCNT" (for "OC.net").

Вечнаја Памјат!

Христос васкрсе!

May the Lord grant Mary Cecilia pardon and remission of all her sins, and may the Lord God remember her in His Kingdom! Asteriktos, may the Lord grant you, Athanasia, and Sahara peace and comfort, that peace which the world can not give.

Rest assured of my prayers.

Asteriktos you have a lot more strength than you can imagine. Whatever your going to do in her arrangements she would not lose any hope in you after wards. She wants you to be there for her children. And for Gods sake you have all the time in the world to not be on this board right now and be at peace with her.

I thank you all for your prayers. It's somehow comforting to hear you all say you'll pray for her. I mean, I know she has family and friends out there doing that as well, but still, it's just reassuring to hear I guess.

Thank you, but fwiw--and just to say why I'm posting here at a time like this--I think being on this board is helpful. I probably spent more time talking on the phone yesterday to relatives about what happened than I've talked to them for the last three years combined, not to mention thinking about what happened to Mary in between phone calls with family. So I welcome having something else to focus on, even if only for a time. Maybe my brain isn't all in it, but if it gives me a rest from thinking about things for a while... well I think that is helpful. If I could be with her now, as I think was standard in the past, saying prayers and just being with the body, I would be. Unfortunately once they moved the body from the hospital to the funeral home they put it in cold storage to preserve it, and it has to stay in there until the time of the viewing on Tuesday. So all I can do is sit and wait.

Memory eternal and God help you, Asteriktos. I'm really sorry. It really was like a brick falling for the sky for the rest of us. I mean, we know you, you had talked to us about your family.
Peace to you and your family.

Everyone processes these things differently. And sometimes when it's just too big to process all at once, yes, it's helpful to have something you can focus your abstract thought on while the titanic, voiceless things pass through the heart.

We are not and cannot be the same thing as people physically there for you, but you have many friends here Asteriktos. If there is anything you need from us, let us know. And until then, know that we are praying for you and for her.
