To all our beloved OC.net members---
This is advance notice to everyone to confirm that we will be upholding a tradition of this site: we will be shutting down the board for Clean Monday to offer everyone a break.
I urge everyone to take the opportunity offered at that time to prayerfully reflect upon your life, and to grow in repentance "...for a humble and contrite heart God will not spurn".
Let us all remember to pray for one another, and not let the arguments and calumnies that occur on this board and in our daily lives to distract us from our Holy Calling of "...working out our Salvation in fear and trembling."

Just a reminder for those who don't follow the Julian Paschalion that Clean Monday is next Monday, the 10th March when the Board will be shut down for 24 hours.

For the administrators' consideration, I propose a 2 day 'fast' from OCNet because one day is sometimes not enough. Just a modest proposal.

Personally, I'm looking forward to my now traditional Clean Monday Steak Dinner...a good meal with good drink is a fine and wonderful thing in and of itself, but if you can make it a bit more debaucherous, it's all the more pleasurable.

Mmmm....feta. We bought some today; we take Cheesefare seriously. Dinner tonight is chicken, spinach, and tomato pizza with an alfredo sauce. Meatfare Sunday is always a bittersweet day for me: It is quite satisfying to finish the meats, but being on the verge of Lent has a rather ominous feeling as well.

Well, then just don't log on until wednesday. Are you implying people should exercise self-discipline rather than simply doing what they're told? Where do you come up with these things?

Just a reminder to all that OCnet will shut down for 24 hours on Clean Monday 10th March in accordance with our tradition to give us all an opportunity for prayer and reflection.
"The springtime of the Fast has dawned, and the flower of repentance has sprung up. Therefore, brethren, let us purify ourselves from all defilement. As we sing to the Giver of Light, let us say: Glory to you, only lover of mankind!" -Apostichon of Cheesefare Sunday Vespers

I am on Pacific time. So you will shut it down while it is still Sunday here, and put it back up late Monday for me. That 3 hours makes a big difference for us since we keep a swing shift.

You think 3 hours makes a big difference? Well I'm on Australian Eastern Standard Time, and it's 8:40am here on Clean Monday. The Board will shut down around 3pm my time and will be up again at 3pm on Tuesday. And I've got to keep an eye on it until then!

Until I googled it, I didn't know that there WAS an Oz EST! My lack of education after grade 9 is showing To my slight credit, I did happen to google it BEFORE you mentioned it. All of us out of EST here in the states are going to be puzzled for the next 48 hours.

I'm just excited to quit the board for a day or two. Just focus on what's important.
It will be good...any time that it starts.
Good luck to you all and God Bless in this lenten season!

I completely agree with a board hiatus. I often encounter the time zone issue on the internet. One would think that living in the land of Microsoft, that we would have more internet things based in our time zone, but we do not. Most any board I have been a part of is based on the East coast.

Question a friend, perhaps he did not do it; but if he did anything so that he may do it no more. A hasty quarrel kindles fire, and urgent strife sheds blood. If you blow on a spark, it will glow; if you spit on it, it will be put out; and both come out of your mouth
