Ebay has a few dealers...look under the keyword "icons" or "Ethiopian icons." You'll see a link at the top in blue directing you to Christian icons. Last time I looked, there were several Ethiopian ones...I have bought old icons off of eBay before and not had any problems (even with ones coming from Eastern Europe)...

I get the feeling that here in the U.S. there aren't any places where you can get Ethiopian icons, except of course for e-bay.  It's like that with Armenian icons, too.  I run my church's bookstore, and the only way I get Armenian icons is when someone visits Armenia and brings some back for me.

Of course if you like working with wood, you can always print something from the internet and do some decoupage:

This website has some beautiful pictures of icons on it:

This is one of my favorites:

I have always admired the way our Coptic brothers have made their icons more available.  Whenever I go to a Coptic church, there is always a bookstore with Coptic icons.  I know some of them are printed or made up here in the U.S.  The Copts are just good about that sort of thing.  The rest of us really have to follow their lead.

In my Serbian Orthodox bookstore about 20% of the icons are Coptic.  Of course there are also plenty of Russian and Greek... with some Serbian, Bulgarian, and Romanian... sometimes even Syrian.  After looking online, it seems that the hardest Orthodox icons to find are Ethiopian, Armenian, and Indian.  I pray it is only a matter of time before every cultural branch of Orthodoxy has a good amount of high-quality media widely available.  It will do so much to bring the outside world into the realization that Orthodoxy/Christianity is truly Universal... applicable to every single culture and race on earth.

May be I can help.

What would you like the Icon to say?

Let me know if you want Advent, Epiphany, an Ethiopian Saint etc.

I will track it down and once I have it I ill let you know and we can arrange the purchase and shipment.

Also what size.

Ethiopian Icons are not easy to come by.

We generally order them from a monastary or seminary in Ethiopia.

Thank you so much for offering your help with this… it is truly a blessing.

Well, I would like to eventually have several.  But the main first one I’m looking for is the classic Mary-with-Christchild.  This is my favorite one that I’ve seen:

Do you know if this icon is available?

Also what size.

8 x 11 inches (or something close to that)

Ethiopian Icons are not easy to come by.

Thank you so much for making them a little less harder to find.  Smiley

I eagerly wait with hopeful anticipation.  God bless

Is a high quality color copy OK?

I can get a very good high resolution color copy of Icons that are very old which were photographical taken from original master in Ethiopia. These are good for home use.

Of course I can look for an original or actual Icon of the type you want. This will take some time.

Please let me know

High quality color copies would be wonderful.  I can easily print them.  And yes, it would be very nice to have an actual icon, but there is no hurry.  For now, you can send the digital photos to my email listed on my profile.

My brother in Christ, thank you so much for this.  I hope you know what a blessing it is both to myself and to so many around me.
God bless

The icon in this video (there is a zoom-in shot about 15 seconds in) is absolutely stunning.  Just thought I would share.

Try the annual festivals of any Coptic or Ethiopian parishes that might be in your area if there are any.
