Well, after all of my hysteria and griping, it looks like we're setting a date for my chrismation and it's almost here.  Fr. says he's thinking Pentecost which is kind of freaking me out because it's in 3-4 weeks.

Truthfully I don't know how I feel about it.  I trust him to make the decision but it's sooner than I thought.

Hehehe, "dont it always seem to go, that you dont know what you've got til it's gone?"

First it seemed like it would come much later than you wished and now it seems it comes much sooner--Don't worry, it's on God's time and He seems to like keeping you on your toes. Just trust in Him, He's bringing you home!!

congratulations, Jennifer Smiley i know how nerve-wracking it can be for the date to suddenly be very close (had the experience fairly recently), but as choirfriend said, it is in God's hands and on His time, which is very comforting, or I found it to be at least.

Now comes the hard part!  It's also the best part.  It's like taking all the boring scuba classes in the classroom, diving in a pool and then preparing to make that first dive.  It's tougher than playing in the pool, but it's worth it.

Jennifer,

So it looks like your priest had his thoughts on your Chrismation afterall.     I'm happy for you, and am so glad because I know you've been wanting this day for a long time.

I can see how you are nervous about things, getting a pedicure, etc....but I have the feeling when you are up there being Chrismated, how your toes look won't be on your mind at all.   Shocked)

In the Orthodox Church, are there set dates for Chrismation?   For ex., Pentecost is near, so that would be the next one for entering the church.

Or, can  Chrismation occur anytime when the Priest feels it's time, even if it doesn't fall on Pentecost, etc...

thank you!

i think there are some restrictions - the Sundays of Great Lent (Lazarus Saturday not withstanding Smiley) maybe - but overall you can actually be received on any Sunday - or Saturday also. perhaps any day of the week? (ive never heard it done but who knows?) anyways i dont think ive helped answer ur question at all, since i think it could happen on any day now lol

Congrats!  Although, I would say the hard part is to STAY Orthodox.
